AUDITION VIDEO DETAILS:
-Please fill out this Audition Form to submit your audition.
Please upload a video of a one-minute cut of a musical theatre song in the style of the show that best shows off you! Songs should be performed with accompaniment (recorded piano accompaniment or karaoke tracks are great!). Please slate your name and title of your audition song at the beginning of the video.
Please also upload a video of you reading from one of the Dr. Seuss selections here. Please note there are 4 options in this one document but you only need to do one. Please be animated - we are looking for strong storytellers and big choices! This show doesn’t have a lot of dialogue (a lot is sung!), so this is a good way for us to see you portray a character. We will ask people to read for specific parts at callbacks. Please slate your name and state the roles you would most like to be considered for before you read. Please note, you will be considered for other roles as well as the ones you express interest in.
Please email [email protected] with questions.
ABOUT THE SHOW:
Book By: Lynn Ahrens & Stephen Flaherty
Music By: Stephen Flaherty
Lyrics By: Lynn Ahrens
Co-conceived By: Eric Idle
Based on the works of Dr. Seuss.
Horton the Elephant, the Cat in the Hat and all of your favorite Dr. Seuss characters spring to life onstage in Seussical JR., a fantastical musical extravaganza from Tony winners, Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty. Transporting audiences from the Jungle of Nool to the Circus McGurkus, the Cat in the Hat narrates the story of Horton the Elephant, who discovers a speck of dust containing tiny people called the Whos. Horton must protect the Whos from a world of naysayers and dangers, and he must also guard an abandoned egg that's been left in his care by the irresponsible Mayzie La Bird. Although Horton faces ridicule, danger and a trial, the intrepid Gertrude McFuzz never loses faith in him. Ultimately, the powers of friendship, loyalty, family and community are challenged and emerge triumphant!
